The Legacy Program, a joint program of the State Historical Society of North Dakota Foundation and the North Dakota Newspaper Association, is assisting local historical societies to compile biographical information of each area's 52 local residents who have contributed to the development or history of their communities.
The biographies will be published in each respective local newspaper and then collected by the SHSND Foundation for preservation in the State Archives.
Citizens of Mandan, as well as its predecessors of "Morton," "Cushman, "Motsiff," "Lincoln," Fort Lincoln Military Reservation as well as Scattered Village and On-A-Slant Village, have contributed significantly to the history of our area, state and nation. It is with this pride a brief synopsis of each of their lives is presented.
To submit a short biography on an individual who should be honored in this manner, please contact our program coordinator for program guidelines at legacy@mandanhistory.org.
